First Church Missions!
The Benson family is just one of our many roots that reach the world. Take
a moment to read about the wonderful works of God in Africa!
The Bensons’ missionary journey began in Africa with a year of AIM work in the
island nation of Madagascar in 2003/2004. The Benson’s found the work in
Madagascar to be both miraculous and inspiring! This revival-filled year proved
to be the spark that would ignite a burden for a country few had ever heard of,
located in the heart of Africa. Listening to that still, small voice pulling at
their heartstrings, the Benson’s burden began to grow for the country of Central
African Republic.
The work in the Central African Republic was begun in 2003 when Area Coordinator,
Randy Adams, began making trips into this interior country to teach doctrinal
seminars and hold crusades. While viewing photos of Bro. Adams performing the
first “Jesus Name” baptism held in the C.A.R., the Benson’s felt the Lord
speaking to them to join with Bro. Adam’s in reaching this land with the true
gospel of Jesus Christ. They applied to the Foreign Mission Division of the UPCI
for a full appointment to the Central African Republic and were approved in
February 2007.
After finishing their deputation travels in October 2008, they arrived in Lome’,
Togo in December 2008. Currently, they are attending the university in Lome’,
dedicating much time to French language study. They are also working with
Missionary Randy Adams and the church in Togo in evangelism and outreach.
